This Benefit Event is the work of eight artists together creating an evening of individual and collaborative performance.
Writing, song, music, theatre, visual imagery and sound artistry will interweave, overlap and juxtapose in a unique experience. The title is taken from sculptor Tim Shaw’s recent Exhibition in Anima Mundi, St.Ives. Something Is Not Quite Right speaks volumes and underpins the making of this event. The aim is to raise money for 65 million refugees, men, women and children with no home, the Grenfell Tower fire. There is a further motive – to keep public these inhumane realities through the languages of art.
Political debate has become ever more farcical and deceptive. The voices of artists can perhaps unlock a deeper knowing of what is at stake. Risk to our humanity is spreading. To quote the late Jonathan Harvey, we need a Global Ethic. Work will be performed in support and empathy for the many human beings on the edge of endurance. Some performances have been created specially for this occasion. Irony, humour, celebration of survival and the human spirit will interweave with darker notes.
We hope you will join us.
